CRPF jawan tries to kill self in Gaya

GAYA(Bihar): A jawan of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly shot himself to injured with his service weapon at a camp in Imamganj on Thursday.
He was identified as 49-year-old Chhotu Lal Jaat, a native of Khalipura village in Tonk district of Rajasthan. He is posted CRPF’s Imamganj camp for the last around one- and- a- half years within Imamganj police limits.
Sources said the incident took place at around 6 am. The jawan was in his tent when he shot himself with his service rifle. On hearing the gunshot, fellow jawans rushed to the tent and found Jaat lying injured with pool of blood. Later, police reached the spot and started an investigation.
The exact reason behind the jawan taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. Terming the incident unfortunate, Commandant of 159 CRPF Battalion said Chhotu ’s trie to suicide has left the officers at the camp demoralised. “We have been informed that he was frustrated over some family issues.
The jawan was rushed to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH) after providing first aid at Imamganj CHC.. However, doctors at ANMMCH referred him to Patna. According to information, the jawan has been admitted at PMCH, Patna and his condition is stated to be critical.
The injured jawan had returned on duty after two months leave only eight days ago.
According to information, on hearing gun shot noise, officials and other jawans rushed only to find Chhotu lying on the ground in the barrack.
His Insas rifle was also found. According to CRPF sources, the jawan has sustained three bullet injuries in the left chest.
Gaya SSP Harpreet Kaur said, “Investigation is going on to ascertain the reason behind the incident. A team of FSL has also been called to conduct a probe.”
