CUSB, Gaya faculty members project get National Award

GAYA(Bihar): Research project proposal entitled “Effect of Recreational Mathematical Activities on Students’ Creativity in Mathematics” prepared by Dr. Tarun Kumar Tyagi and Lt (Dr.) Pragya Gupta, Assistant Professor, Dept of Teacher Education, CUSB Gaya has been selected by NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training, New Delhi) for National Awards for Innovative Practices and Experiments in Education for School and Teacher Education Institutions.
CUSB Public Relation Officer (PRO) Md. Mudassir Alam said that this is the second time in a row when the proposal has been selected for the above-said scheme. Last year, Dr. Tyagi was given the National Award for Innovative Practices in School Mathematics by NCERT, New Delhi. Alam said that this time the Department of Teacher Education (DTE), NCERT, New Delhi invited project proposals in the month of July 2022 from teachers and teacher educators working in all recognized schools and teacher education institutions across the country for implementing Innovative Practices and Experiments under the Scheme “National Award for Innovative Practices and Experiments in Education for Schools and Teacher Education Institutions. In this regard, Teacher Educators from different educational institutions in India submitted their project proposals to their respective Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs).
The selection process of the research proposals was in two phases. Initially, it was shortlisted from RIE, Bhubaneswar (Eastern Zone), and then finally selected by the expert committee at NCERT, New Delhi. The final selection of the award will be based on the evaluation of the project report and its presentation in the National Seminar which will be held after the implementation of the experimentation.
On this achievement, Project Coordinators said that due to the continuous motivation and support of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh, CUSB, Gaya, this project could be initiated. Further, they said that all the officials and Registrar, Col. Rajiv Kumar Singh, CUSB, Prof Kaushal Kishore, Head, DTE & Dean SoE, Prof Brajesh Kumar (Incharge FO), Member FPAC and esteemed Faculty members of DTE supported us throughout the process.
Providing details Dr. Tyagi said that in the 21st century, every country has a great need for creative potential in every field to maintain its own prosperity and existence across the world. Creativity is considered the driving force behind all innovations and the key to success in this competitive world. Expertise in science and technology also requires higher-order thinking skills in mathematics like creativity, and problem- solving. Therefore, scholarly attention is needed for providing opportunities for students to think out of the box (NEP, 2020), relate mathematics with real-life settings, and reflect on the mathematization of the mind (NCF, 2005; NCTM, 2000; OECD, 2014).
