For Legal Assistance to Common People PRO Bono Club inaugurated at CUSB

GAYA(Bihar): The inauguration of "Pro Bono Club" under the Ministry of Law and Justice was successfully organised at the premises of Central University of South Bihar. The main objective of the club was to provide free legal aid to the underprivileged people. The program began with the lighting of the lamp. The inauguration started with “Kulgeet of CUSB” which highlighted the importance of nurturing human values and relationships.

CUSB Vice Chancellor Prof. Kameshwar Nath Singh in his address stated that it is impossible to imagine a developed India when justice is denied to people.
The objective of the University is creation and dissemination of knowledge for the welfare of the society. He gave the call for “campus for community” and quoting the preamble he stated social justice is important for democracy and students should always work towards providing service to the community.
In the welcome address, Prof. Sanjay Prakash Srivastava, Dean of School of Law and Governance, quoted Kautilya ‘Praja sukhe sukham raja, prajanam tu hitey hitam, Naatma priyam hitam raagyaha prajaanaam tu priyam hitam' that is, in the happiness of the people lies the happiness of the king. He should see his own interest in the interest of the people. He said that the goal of Pro Bono Club is good governance and justice to people.
The program was further addressed by Miss Sneha Sharma, Program Manager, Pro Bono Club (Nyay Bandhu), Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice. She highlighted the importance of legal awareness and access to justice to the underprivileged people. She stated about "tele law" and "Nyay Bandhu" programs which are continuously working to provide legal aid to the needy people. She further highlighted the future vision of the ministry of law and justice to merge the two programs which will further ensure access to justice to all people.
Dr. Deo Narayan Singh, Nodal Officer of Pro Bono Club said that the aim of Pro Bono Club would not only be restricted to giving legal advice but also it would create awareness about the welfare schemes of the Government. A helpline number 9473116413 was also launched to facilitate the needs of the people who want to seek help from Pro Bono Club of CUSB. Further, Rohit Kumar, Labour Enforcement Officer of Tekari highlighted the labour welfare schemes for organised as well as unorganised sector which included pension schemes, death compensation schemes, free medical treatment etc. He also enlightened about the working of e- shram portal.
After that a skit play was presented by the law students of CUSB which focused on the evil of casteism. The program ended with the vote of thanks that was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar of School of Law and Governance.
This occasion was graced by the presence of Dean of Student Welfare Prof (Dr.) Pawan Mishra, Prof. Pradeep Kumar Das, Mrs. Poonam Kumari, Dr. Digvijay Singh, Dr. Pallavi Singh, Dr. Anant Prakash Narayan, Mr. Mani Pratap, Dr. Kumari Nitu, Dr. Anuja Mishra, Dr. Chandana Suba, Dr. Anurag Agarwal, Dr. Abodh Kumar of Dept. of Economics and teachers from various other departments.
Panchayat representatives of Nepa, Tepa, Fatehpur, Dariyapur, Savasin and Principal of Nepa Middle School, Principal of Savasin Middle School, Lallan Yadav of Missionary School, Dayanand Saraswati, Principal of Fatehpur Middle School, Yashoda Devi of Jeevika Mission and all the students of Law Faculty registered their presence in this program. The program was moderated by Anushka of 5th year BALLB program.
